Warnings/Spoilers/Summary: Jimmy and Summer are spending Valentine's Day in Boston. And odd choice by Jimmy, but he has his reasons. February 1978. Canon.
Playing the melody once more, Summer swore as she once more misplayed. Frustrated she tossed her guitar onto the couch and got to her feet. Pacing the hotel suite, she wondered where Jimmy and Queenie were, thinking their walk had lasted much too long. While he might have thought he was doing her a favor by leaving her be, she really thought she needed his assistance to finish her song. It was not going well at all. She was not going to be prepared for their studio sessions at the end of the week. She could not believe that Jimmy remotely thought it a good idea to be hiding out in Boston, recording an album. She was not ready for this, not in the least.
In her pacing, she had not heard her fiancé return with the dog. She did not even hear the sound of kibble filling the dog’s dish. It was not until Jimmy’s fingers circled her wrist and stopped her pacing that she realized the very thing she wished for had happened. Her arms quickly circled his neck and she kissed him frantically. Leaning out of the embrace, he looked down into her blue eyes.
“Princess, what’s wrong?”
“I can’t do it, Jimmy,” she declared.
“Do what, love?”
“I can’t play the song! I’m never going to be ready for the studio. We need to cancel it. We shouldn’t be here. We should go back to California and–”
He quickly kissed her, “Relax, love. Your songs are amazing. They will be perfect in the studio, I assure you.”
“But I’m not like you, Jimmy. I can’t just go in there and play and be–”
“Summer, love, relax. You are putting way too much pressure on yourself. You are not under a pressure-filled contract. We have as much time as you need to finish your album,” he declared. “This is your first time in a studio. I would not expect it to be perfect. Just relax.”
“But, Jimmy–”
He kissed her again, “Relax and the music will come.”
“But–”
“You have nothing to worry about. Only friends who support you will be in the studio. Trust me, love.”
“Who?”
He smiled and winked, “Just you wait.”
She sighed, “Jimmy, I don’t think this is such a good idea.”
“Princess,” he reached up and touched her cheek, “we have been talking about this for some time now. We have all the time in the world. My band is on hiatus until Robert feels well enough to be a part of it again. It is just you and me now. Everything is going to be just magical.”
She sighed again, “I don’t think I can do this, Jimmy.”
He kissed her once more, “Come and have a drink with me. We will talk of other things than guitars and songs.”
Nodding, Summer allowed Jimmy to guide her back to the couch. Before she could say anything, he picked up her guitar and tucked it away in its case. Queenie curled up at Summer’s feet, using the tops of the young woman’s feet as her pillow. Smiling slightly, she remained sitting like that to not disturb the dog. Jimmy pressed a drink into her hand a moment later, sitting beside her. Sipping it slowly, she smiled slightly at him.
“Perhaps a change of scenery is what is needed,” Jimmy suggested, sipping his own drink. “Get your mind off of things.”
“Right,” Summer responded, not really paying attention to anything he had said.
He quickly swept the drink away from her hand, setting it on the coffee table. Before she could say a thing, Jimmy stood and pulled her to her feet. He kissed her quickly to silence any questions and led her over to the coat closet. Pulling it open, he snatched her winter coat from the hanger and pulled it around her shoulders. He pointed to her feet before pulling his own coat back out. Summer quickly slipped on her fur-lined boots, not bothering to take the time for socks. Reaching for her hands, Jimmy quickly pulled her soft leather gloves on and then tied a scarf about her throat. After pulling a hat over her shoulder-length curls, he quickly pulled on the rest of his winter attire. Grasping her hand again, he glanced at the dog that lay stretched out in the beam of sun shining through the window and headed out of the hotel suite.
Her thoughts still focused on the melody she continued to struggle with, Summer paid no attention where Jimmy took her. She absently slipped into a car, her hands folding in her lap. Her eyes stared vacantly out the window, not really seeing the buildings blur pass the window. Jimmy reached for her right hand, pulling it into his lap. She slowly looked in his direction, her vacant eyes meeting his. Concern instantly filled Jimmy’s eyes and he leaned forward, kissing her. Though some light returned to her eyes with his kiss, not enough did to satisfy him at all.
“That decides it,” he declared strongly.
“Decides what?” she asked.
“No more guitar. No more playing,” Jimmy decided.
“What? I won’t be ready for the studio if I don’t pra–”
“You are more than ready so now you must relax,” he claimed. “After dinner, I will make a few calls. Tomorrow there will be no guitar at all. It will be all about you.”
“But Jimmy–”
“No objections. It will be so.”
Noticing that her breaths had not regularized, as they should when she slept, Jimmy turned over on his side. His fingers reached out, brushing her hair from her face. She inhaled sharply, indicating she certainly felt his touch. When she did not shift forward, he did, his lips touching her forehead. With a sigh, she rolled over, turning her back to him.
He shifted closer, his arms pulling her close. Summer wiggled uncomfortably, trying to get out of his embrace. His arms remained tight about her, not allowing her to escape. She protested softly, her fingers attempting to pry his from her body. He held tight.
“Princess,” his words tickled her ear, “why do you pull from me?”
“I… I do not… I cannot… Please, release me,” she breathed.
“Why?”
“Jimmy… Jimmy…”
He kissed her ear, “Talk to me, my love.”
“You are so… so very talented. I am nothing. I cannot be doing this. I should not be doing this. I am not a musician. An album? Even the idea of it is crazy,” she muttered softly.
“No, it is not,” Jimmy stated. “You are very talented. I knew that the very first time you played for me years ago. You have soaked up every little thing I have shown and picked up so many other things from others like Joni. Your style is fluid and spritely. No oneplays like you. I would even hazard your fingerpicking is better than mine. You are being too hard on yourself, my princess.”
“An album is something a musician makes. I am merely the daughter of one, the lover of one. I am not one.”
He quickly pulled away from her and rolled out of the bed. Turning on the small lamp beside it, he stepped over the dog and retrieved her guitar. Quickly unsnapping the case, he plucked the red spruce Gibson out and returned to the bedroom. Summer slowly sat up as he approached, tugging her sleep shirt in place. Jimmy sat beside her, holding out the guitar. She did not question his intentions, but merely nodded and accepted it. His eyes watched her face as she checked tuning before beginning to play. Slowly her fingers began to dance over the strings, quickly releasing a melody into the air. Jimmy tapped his foot along with hers, easily following the song he knew almost as well as his own. He did not tense as she reached the part she struggled over, but merely kept tapping. Her fingers slowed ever so slightly, but she played through it.
Her eyes suddenly flew open, going to Jimmy’s eyes. He smiled as she continued to play on. Her tempo once more increased, returning to the beat he kept tapping out. Her eyes brightened and her lips curved into a smile. Finishing the tune, Summer quickly tossed the guitar aside and flew into Jimmy’s arms. She kissed him quickly, settling in his lap.
“How did you know?” she muttered.
“I have never once doubted you, Summer. Never. I did not need the convincing, you did.”
She kissed him again, “I love you.”
“You are a musician, princess. You are talented,” he commented, kissing her softly. “And…”
Her eyes searched his, “And?”
“Beautiful,” Jimmy kissed her again, “Sexy."
She smiled briefly, “I’m sorry I was such a grump all day.”
“I had not even noticed,” he responded.
While she did not believe him, she nuzzled him all the same. He hugged her for a few moments before slipping her out of his lap. Placing the guitar back in her hands, he encouraged her to play one last time. With a smile and following the tap of his foot, Summer played her song once more, not even slowing down in the section she struggled with before. Finishing it triumphantly, she jumped up and quickly set the guitar on a nearby chair. With a happy squeal, she jumped back into Jimmy’s lap and kissed him deeply. She giggled as he shifted her back properly into the bed, tucking her under the blanket. As soon as the light clicked off and he slipped in beside her, Summer smiled. She knew exactly what happened when the lights went off.
Stepping into the suite, Summer paused just inside the door to remove her dog’s leash. Queenie strolled casually in, paying no attention as her human removed her winter outwear. Hearing no sound in the hotel suite, she presumed Jimmy had slipped out while she was walking the dog. Thinking nothing of it, she decided a bath to be the best way to warm up after walking in the brisk winter air. Turning to the bedroom, she stopped as her eyes fell upon a red dress hanging from the end of the canopied bed. Summer stepped forward and reached for the note pinned to it. Smiling crookedly and glancing at the clock, she decided she had plenty of time for a bath before preparing for whatever Jimmy had in mind that evening.
Patting herself dry twenty minutes later, Summer massaged almond oil into her still damp skin. As Jimmy had not laid out any undergarments, she saw no reason to wear any. Wiping her hands clean of excess oil, she carefully styled her mid-length hair, pulling some of it from her face but leaving most of it free to curl about her shoulders. Leaning towards the mirror after brushing her teeth, Summer applied her makeup before flicking out the light and opening the door.
She slipped the dress from the padded hanger and unzipped the back zipper. Slipping the straps onto her shoulders a moment later, Summer did not bother to adjust the criss-cross of the neckline. Instead, she struggled to get the zipper up before standing in front of the mirror and adjusting her small breasts to fit into the chiffon. Smiling, her hands ran over the ruched bodice, straightening out the dress. It did not surprise her that the red chiffon fit her perfectly, that the long skirt started perfectly from the curve of her ass. If anyone knew her body, it was Jimmy. She did not mind being his doll at all.
Finding a pair of new, shiny silver stilettos in the closet, Summer smirked and fastened them about her feet. Just as she pulled the last strap in place, the door to the suite opened. Though she was already filled with giggly anticipation, she coolly headed out of the bedroom and leaned on the doorframe. Her eyes watched as Jimmy slowly headed towards her, his long black coat concealing his smart black suit. Stopping in front of her, he said nothing but cupped her cheek and leaned forward, kissing her ruby lips.
Stepping back, Jimmy appraised her appearance, shaking his head, “Something is not quite right.”
Summer quickly looked down, fearing that perhaps she had not pulled the dress on correctly, “What?”
He reached into his pocket, pulling out a small box, “This.”
Giggling she quickly opened it and gasped. Inside the small velvet box was a gold, pearls, and diamonds bangle, the centerpiece the shape of a flower. Jimmy quickly picked it up and motioned for her wrist. Holding up her right hand, she grinned as he fastened it around her wrist. Stepping back, Jimmy looked her over once more.
“Perfect,” he smiled, slipping the box from her fingers and placing it out of the dog’s reach. “Shall we?”
“What is the occasion for us to dress up tonight, Jimmy?” she asked as he led her over to the closet, slipping her coat on.
His eyes met hers and he remained silent for a moment, “Really?”
She bit her bottom lip, trying to figure out if she had forgotten an anniversary, “Really.”
“Princess, it’s Valentine’s Day.”
Returning their coats to the coat closet, Jimmy watched with amusement in his eyes as Summer twirled happily about the hotel suite, her shoes in her hand. After a horse-drawn carriage ride through Boston, they dined at the most exclusive restaurant in town. A bottle of wine and one of rose champagne later, they returned to the hotel. Summer’s eyes sparkled and she giggled. Her glum, stress-induced pallor was completely gone. She was his princess once more.
Slipping his arm around her as she spun about, Jimmy caught her as she stumbled from dizziness. Her nose bumped his and she broke into giggles again. Kissing her sweetly, he guided her to the couch, sitting beside her a moment later after retrieving a glass of water. Jimmy pressed it into her hands and reached for his guitar. He played through a couple of songs, stopping to refill her glass twice.
“Oh, Jimmy, one more!” she pleaded.
His eyes met hers, “One more. It is a new composition. I do not have a title for it yet, but… it is yours.”
Setting down her glass, Summer turned attentively to Jimmy. Her eyes moved between his fingers dancing on the guitar to his eyes sparkling with love. Some of the song sounded familiar but she was not sure why at all. Perhaps he had finally written the song of her heart.
As soon as the last note danced away in the air, Summer leaned forward and kissed him softly, “That was beautiful, Jimmy.”
He kissed her again, “Not nearly as beautiful as you.”
She smiled but pulled away, “Hold that thought. I’ll be right back.”
Chuckling he put away his guitar while Summer hurried to the loo. He turned out the lights in the living space of the suite, slowly making his way to the bedroom, pausing to sit in a chair and remove his socks and shoes. Jimmy reached the door just as Summer stepped out of the bathroom. Their eyes met and she smiled, her fingers disappearing behind her back. Jimmy shook his head slightly, freezing her actions. Quickly closing the space between them, his hands went to the crossed front of her dress, pushing it up to bear her breasts. Her head fell backwards as he caressed and cupped her flesh, bearing her neck for his kiss. Jimmy eagerly leaned down and suckled on her soft flesh, nipping lightly.
“Oh, Jimmy,” she breathed.
Smiling against her flesh, he kissed her mouth deeply. Her hands quickly moved to the black buttons of his silk shirt, deftly removing the garment. Jimmy only stopped cupping and squeezing her breasts long enough to allow the shirt to flutter to the floor. Slowly bending over, he began to suckle and nibble on her nipples, hearing her gasp and moan as her fingers dug into his hair. His hands ran down the sides of her body, quickly gathering up her long, red skirt. She gasped as his left hand cupped her sex, stepping abruptly away from his touch, her back slamming the bathroom door back open.
Chuckling Jimmy stood fully up and offered his hand to Summer. Her fingers easily slipped into his and she giggled as he twirled her towards the bed. Stopping at the bed, but not lifting her onto it, he kissed her deeply once more. Her hands instantly took advantage of the moment and dropped to his pants. Ending the kiss, Jimmy stood completely still, a smug smile on his face as Summer slid his pants and red silk boxers over his hips. Her glittering blue eyes met his as her soft fingers wrapped around his cock. Slowly she stroked him to full erection, pulling a soft moan from his lips as well. With a smile, she leaned forward and kissed him.
With Summer once more focused on kissing him, this time nibbling along his jawline towards his ear, Jimmy’s expert fingers quickly unzipped her dress. His hands went to her shoulders, wrapping underneath the straps. With a slight nudge, she fell backwards onto the bed, but he remained upright, practically tearing the dress from her body. Releasing the straps, he eased her hips up and quickly slid the skirt of the dress down her legs, depositing the entire chiffon garment on the carpet. Before Summer could protest, Jimmy buried his face against her sex, looping her legs over his shoulders.
Fingers digging into the coverlet, Summer moaned as his tongue quickly slid into her, finding her honey hot and oozing. While he could easily move up her body and united with his love, Jimmy focused on bringing her to orgasm first. He licked, sucked, and nipped at her clitoris and labia. Two fingers thrust into her channel, curling slightly and twisting. Her moans increased in intensity and volume. Her hips wiggled, trying to press closer to the source of her pleasure.
Thrusting his fingers into her as quickly and deeply as possible, Jimmy looked up at her face, meeting her eyes, “Cum for me, princess.”
“OH GOD, JIMMY!” she shouted, her body completely tensing.
Pulling his fingers free of her trembling body, Jimmy pulled her to the edge of the bed and thrust into her quivering body. Remaining standing, his fingers dug into her thighs, pressing them together, as he pummeled her body. Quickly thrusting into her body, Jimmy kept Summer’s body trembling, her breaths shallow, and his name on her tongue. He pushed deeply into her body with a grunt and joined her in the heavens. Grinding his hips into hers until his body no longer pulsed, Jimmy slowly pulled from his fiancée’s body. His hands circled her wrists and pulled her up into a seated position, making it easier for him to kiss her. Her soft fingers once more circled his cock, rubbing her own juices around it. He closed his eyes and focused on her touches for a moment, letting her coax life back into his cock.
Opening his eyes, he met her gaze once more. Leaning in for a kiss, he pushed her back onto the bed. Summer’s legs instinctively attempted to move up, to wrap around him. Jimmy’s hand pinned her thighs down. Questioning him wordlessly, Summer read his unspoken instructions and moved towards the center of the bed once he released the pressure on her legs. He moved behind her, quickly guided her leg back around his hip, and thrust back into her body.
Their bodies slapped and squished together. Summer no longer moaned his name, but rather breathed it. His right hand pressed against her pubic mound, making his carnal thrust feel even more poignant. His left hand pressed against her chest, feeling her heart thunder as she once more neared orgasm. Changing the tempo and angle of his thrusts, Jimmy guided her to the plateau before freezing deeply inside her.
“Tell me what you want,” Jimmy whispered in her ear before biting it.
“Cum inside me, Jimmy. Please,” she whimpered.
With two deep strokes, both simultaneously orgasmed. Jimmy remained buried deeply in her pulsating body, riding out their waves of pleasure with her. He slowly disengaged from her, rolling onto his back. Summer quickly rolled over, lying half across him. She stretched up and kissed his mouth briefly before leaning towards his ear. Nibbling for a moment, she whispered to him and once more laid her head upon his shoulder. Not entirely sure what to do, Jimmy’s fingers merely stroked her arm lightly.
Boston certainly was life changing.
