Warnings/Spoilers/Summary: Robert strives to show Summer how much she means to him with a rather large purchase in February of 1976.

There were no words in any language capable of explaining how he felt for Summer. He didn’t even think there was music that could musically describe it. It was that big, that cosmic, that real. And Robert had every intention of showing her exactly how he felt somehow. He didn’t necessarily think that he needed any particular event to do just that, but after nearly ruining Christmas by being down on himself, he decided Valentine’s Day was the one to make everything up. All of his minor failures in the past year would begin to be healed by how he treated Summer on that saccharine holiday.

And so they boarded a plane to Europe two days prior to Valentine’s Day. It was Robert’s first return to that part of the world since leaving with Jimmy and Summer to recuperate once more in Malibu, post-recording their newest album. The recording hadn’t been all that pleasant at all and Robert was certainly looking forward to changing his thoughts and memories of Europe back into something positive. For a brief moment he even considered taking Summer to Greece, to erase the horrors of the accident. But he did not think that he was ready for that at all. So he chose Tuscany for their romantic getaway instead, something that made Summer’s eyes shine bright upon his declaration.

Because they flew commercially, Summer would only cuddle with him on the plane, but that suited Robert just fine. They hadn’t fully reengaged in sexual activity as of yet anyways; he too afraid as to how his frail body would react. However he was feeling stronger every day, his leg seemed to have healed completely, and his desire for his beautiful little girl was returning threefold. When was the last time he loved and tasted her?

Before he went to Greece. With Maureen.

Shaking the thought from his mind, Robert leaned over and kissed Summer’s temple. Dozing as the plane droned on, she stirred slightly at his affection, enough to roll away from the window and cuddle with him once more. His fingers brushed her hair from her forehead before dropping to enfold hers in her lap. Without much thought, his thumb traced over her ring and he smiled slightly. She still wore his ring after all these months. Oh how he loved her.

Arriving at the remote Tuscan villa, Robert shook Summer slightly to wake her, a bit concerned she had slept so much in their travels. She mumbled and refused to fully wake. Instead she snuggled even closer to him. Shaking his head, his eyes flicked to the villa. A few windows were lit by warm lights, making Robert wonder who did such. But he supposed the villa’s owners would greet him and hand over the keys.

The driver slipped out from behind the wheel and quickly skirted around the car to open the door. Without much thought, Robert scrambled out, turned, and scooped up Summer. She smiled slightly, her arms looping around his neck.

“Are we wherever, my prince?” she muttered, kissing his ear.

“Oh the princess is awake. I don’t need to carry you.”

Her eyes suddenly shot open upon realization that he was carrying her, “Robert, put me down.”

“Baby, we’re almost to—”

“You shouldn’t be carrying anything as heavy as me. Put me down.”

While he understood her concern, it rubbed him poorly. And rather than comply, he became defiant, determined to carry her all the way to the door and beyond. Summer wiggled some but soon gave up. The door opened as the couple neared, a plump stereotypical Italian matron greeting them. She rushed them into the house, speaking English interjected with Italian. Neither Robert nor Summer paid her much attention. Summer was focused on Robert’s physical reaction to the strain; he on hiding just that. He quickly muttered a request for the locale of their bedroom, something that elicited a chuckle and a knowing look from the woman before she ushered them off.

Gingerly setting Summer on the golden palatial bed, his eyes met hers briefly, slightly warning her to not challenge him. He quickly kissed her and turned to deal with the business matters at hand, including the keys to the villa and retrieving their luggage. The hostess quickly explained she and her husband lived in the caretaker’s studio on the opposite side of the property and would be as available or scarce as they wished. The driver had followed Robert in, bearing the luggage, and only remained for payment. Quickly dispatching both and leaving the luggage downstairs for the time being, he returned to the empty bedroom.

Wait. The empty bedroom?

“Summer? Baby?” he called.

Her head suddenly peeked around an archway. Smiling at him, she beckoned him over to her. Curious and still desiring to talk about the carrying episode, Robert easily complied. Stepping beyond the archway he realized it lead to a very large and very richly decorated bathroom. Perhaps he would have admired the room more, but Summer made that impossible. She stood next to a tub large enough to fit Caligula and his horse. Her long golden hair cascaded in waves, released from braids, shimmering down her nude back. The massive marble basin was already filling with water, the surface of the clear, steaming water spotted with red rose petals. All of his previous thoughts were instantly erased. He could not disrobe quickly enough.

Slipping up behind her, Robert swept her hair to the side and kissed her bare shoulder. Summer glanced at him, reaching back to caress his cheek. She quickly guided him into a kiss, nudging him back from her long enough to turn around and fully face him, never breaking her mouth away from his. His eyes sparkled as she leaned out of the kiss.

“Bathe with me?” she asked huskily.

Rather than reply, his arms circled her waist, lifting her high enough to ease her into the tub. Stepping back out of his embrace, Summer’s eyes quickly scanned his body. She smiled devilishly as her sapphire gaze landed on his quickly wakening sex. Before Robert had a chance to mutter, she squatted before him, circled his cock with her soft fingers, stroked him twice, and kissed his tip.

“Oh baby,” Robert gasped. “I need more than just your mouth.”

Releasing him and standing back up, her lips touched his, “All of me belongs to you, my love.”

He kissed her once more before maneuvering both of them about so he could sit in the tub. Summer quickly straddled his lap, her hand slipping into the warm water to guide him into her. Gasping as he hadn’t expected her to initiate so quickly, his arms circled around her back, his fingers tracing her shoulder blades. Fully encompassing him, Summer leaned back. Reaching behind herself, she turned the water off before wiggling her hips slightly.

“Oh baby,” he groaned. “I’ve missed this.”

Settling her hands on the marble near his knees, Summer’s eyes locked with his as she began to move her hips. Slowly her body rocked, creating a soft rhythm of waves in the large tub. Robert’s hands reached forward, cupping her breasts, pinching her nipples. On one of Summer’s uplifts, his hands slipped around her sides and pulled her up to kiss him. As their tongues wrestled, Robert gently began to change their position.

Unable to argue as his mouth had hers captive, Summer’s fingers sought the edge of the tub as he guided her up onto it. Still kissing her, Robert began to slowly slid in and out of her wet body. His hands left her hips to cup her breasts. With a soft moan, Summer pulled away from his kiss. Her fingers clutched at his wet skin as her legs locked tightly around his waist, limiting his movements. In response Robert changed his tactics, grinding into her instead of thrusting.

Kissing and biting him softly, her mouth worked up to his ear, “I want you behind me.”

Not about to resist, he pulled away as her legs unwrapped and helped turn her around. His right hand on her hip, his eyes met hers as she glanced over her shoulder at him while he guided his cock back into her body. Summer moaned deeply as he filled her completely. Robert’s hands went to her shoulders and he quickly found a pace that elicited load moans from her. With her small breasts pressed against the cold marble, Summer’s body began to tense. He barely had the chance to pull back before her body slammed backwards, engulfing him once more. Even if they had not made love in far too long, he could easily read her body’s signals. She was nearly there.

“Oh god, Robert,” she groaned. “Oh god.”

Pushing deeply into her, he smiled as her orgasm was triggered. Leaning down he kissed her shoulder, riding out her body’s spasms. He was so very close himself, but bringing her was far more important. His hand left her shoulder and reached around her body to touch her engorged clit. His tender touch was enough to continue her orgasm. With her body continuing to spasm, his quickly jumped in league. A moan from deep within his body bubbled out as he emptied deep within to her body. For a long moment he remained completely motionless, one around around her waist, the other moving her hair aside so he could lean down and kiss her.

“Benevenuto in Italia,” he breathed.

Approaching the covered patio, Robert smiled crookedly to himself. Summer lay curled on her side, near a low burning fire in a copper bowl, a small book resting on the chaise. As like seemingly every day since they arrived three days before, she wore very little, this time only a tour shirt – or at least he presumed there wasn’t anything underneath the shirt as he had yet to ever see her wear panties. Her eyes were intently focused on the open book before her, paying him no attention at all. Eyes sparkling, he approached her, stopped just outside of her field of vision. Quickly his fingers darted down and snapped the book out of her hands.

“Robert!” she squealed, sitting up quickly. “I was reading that!”

He pivoted the book in his hand before sitting on the cushion warmed by her body, “I didn’t know you read Italian.”

“Well I don’t,” she responded. “I have no idea what the words mean. But I figured if I kept reading them, eventually... eventually...”

Robert quickly kissed her nose, “You’re cute.”

“Um, okay.”

“You are. Let’s get dressed and go on a walk,” he suggested.

Her eyes looked him over, noticing he was already fully dressed, including shoes, “You mean, I should get dressed to go wherever with you.”

“Well,” he glanced down at his tee shirt and jeans, “yeah, pretty much.”

Summer rolled his eyes, “What if I just want to lay around all day reading books I don’t understand?”

“Then you would be missing out on a good part of the reason I brought you to Italy.”

“You mean sex isn’t the reason you brought me here?” she countered.

Robert laughed before kissing her nose again, “No, baby, it’s not. But god have we made up for the past few months.”

Summer giggled, “No, it hasn’t. But I will walk with you. Give me ten minutes.”

Watching her walk out of the room, he smiled to himself before turning his eyes to the book she had been pretending to read more or less. Flipping through a couple of pages, his eyes picked out the few words in Italian he could read, but it made no more sense to him than it did to her. But he did find it adorable that she thought she could pick up something about the language by reading the book. Maybe if she knew the story beforehand he would be inclined to believe that. Regardless it was cute. Perhaps he could teach her what little Italian he knew and that would make her feel better. With that in mind, Robert got to his feet to intersect his golden girl.

Meeting her at the base of the stairs, his arms circled her waist as he kissed her, twirling her about. She had changed into a long, deep blue maxi dress, held up by a beaded ribbon about her neck. Her long tresses had been quickly braided and coiled on top of her head. For only being gone a few minutes, Summer had transformed from a cute little girl into a beautiful young woman. How had he become so lucky?

“Robert?” she muttered, drawing his eyes to her.

“Yea?”

“If we’re going to walk together, you should probably put me down,” Summer teased.

“Oh right,” he kissed her quickly and set her down. “There are so many beautiful places to show you.”

“You’ve been here before?” she asked, her hand slipping in his as he headed towards the door.

“Well no. But you’ve been sleeping ... a lot. Are you feeling okay, Summer?” concern filled his eyes as he paused to meet hers.

“Uh... yeah, I think so,” she replied. “I’ve just been really tired the past couple of days. I figured it was jet lag and you know, a reaction to staying up all night making love with you.”

Robert frowned, “We don’t have to—”

“Nonsense. I am fully aware of the results of my choice to love you as much as you want me to,” she stated, tugging on his hand. “Come on, love, let’s go see these beautiful views you promised.”

The two of them stepped out of the villa. Though his thoughts were still troubled by Summer’s increased sleeping, Robert glanced around quickly and decided on a walk through the vineyard. Silently they strolled past grapevines, trellises, and water spigots. Small birds twittered about, jumping from vine to vine. It was calm and relaxing and very much different from his farm in Wales. And yet as he walked with the pretty little girl beside him, Robert couldn’t help but think this was exactly where he wanted to spend all of his days with her.

Stopping at the top of a hill that looked out over the valley spotted with other villas and many, many meters of grapevines, he turned to her, “Summer?”

Her large blue eyes went to his, “Yes, sweetie?”

“I... I don’t really know how to say this.”

“Just say whatever is on your mind.”

Robert took a deep breath, “I know I need to leave Maureen, that I have promised you that a million times. And I will. I’m going to. I need to stop being an arse about it and just do it. I know that. And I will. I want nothing more than to marry you and live all of my days with you, kissing you, loving you, waking beside you. And I will. I... fuck, Summer. You shouldn’t want to be with me. I haven’t done anything right by you. I should be... we should be here on our honeymoon, not me just attempting to romance and thank you for putting up with me these past few months. You shouldn’t want to be with me. I’m just going to hurt you too and probably far more than I hurt Maureen. Fuck, I’ll probably ki—”

Summer cut off his words by kissing him quickly before saying, “I’m not quite the naïve little girl you met nearly a year ago, Robert. I understand some things take time. Falling in love with you has never and will never be a mistake. I know that we will have the rest of our lives together. I do. I do not fear my future with you one bit. I have never feared my future with you one bit. And you are my future. Stop worrying, Robert.”

“But—”

“You are my future. I love you. I love you more each day. Do not worry, my love.”

He pressed his forehead to hers, “I do not deserve you.”

“Certainly you do. We are not matched with those we do not belong with,” she claimed. “And I am matched to you. You know what else?”

“What?”

“I think we should spend lots of time here.”

“Why?”

“I think part of the reason I have slept so much since we arrived is because I don’t feel any pressure whatsoever from anyone. We don’t have the band making demands on you. We don’t have random people calling and asking you to do something. We don’t have my dad unexpectedly popping in to check on me. It’s just you and me and this gorgeous house and land. I feel... free,” she claimed.

His hand caressed her cheek as he leaned back slightly, “Then we should buy it.”

“What?”

“Let’s buy it. And we can hide here whenever we want, raise our children here away from everything,” Robert claimed.

“Are you serious?”

“Yes.”

Summer smiled slightly and kissed him quickly, “Yes. Let’s make this our home.”

Sitting next to Robert in a small office in the middle of town, Summer’s eyes wandered about the room. Despite her looking about, she couldn’t really focus on anything. She was far too excited. Robert was buying them a home, their home. She certainly hadn’t expected to come to Italy and buy property – not that she really had anything to do with that. But there they were, about to sign papers for the very villa they had already fallen in love with, keeping the previous owners on as caretakers and managers of the vineyard. Her pulse was racing, her leg jiggling in anticipation. Something about the moment made everything she and Robert were that much more real.

The realtor returned to the office, papers in his hands. The older couple quickly flipped through the pages and signed and dated wherever he pointed. A few minutes later the paper was presented to Robert. He passed them to his lawyer who quickly read over the Italian documents before confirming that he should sign, that everything was in order. Accepting the papers back, Robert reached for a black pen and flipped to the first page.

“Scusi, what is the date?” he asked softly.

“The fourteenth of February,” the realtor answered.

Robert smiled and glanced to Summer, “Happy Valentines, Summer. I hope it’s all right that I don’t wrap it with a big red bow.”

She grinned, “Forgiven. This is the best present ever. I don’t need it wrapped at all.”
