With over two weeks of splitting her time between nights with Lindsey at the studio and days chasing Fleetwood Mac business, Lily had a routine down. Some days were filled with stress, but it was still minimal compared to the stress prior to meeting Lindsey. She could not remember a time in her life when she slept as much as she was now, even if it was sometimes patchwork sleep. Even the crazy nights at the studio seemed to just… be somewhat natural.

She was even eating regularly.

Rolling over in bed, her golden eyes instantly landed on the happy bouquet of flowers on the nightstand. She knew precisely what they meant, as he tended to bring home flowers whenever he returned from the studio after dawn. Remaining on her side for a long moment, she smiled as the sunlight wiggled between the curtains, highlighting different flowers in the arrangement.

Hearing Lindsey mumble in his sleep, she tore her eyes away from the flower arrangement and rolled over. She lifted up the sheets and wiggled closer to him. Letting the sheet drop back down, Lily snuggled against his chest, nuzzling his shoulder. He stirred slightly, his arm tightening around her, but did not wake fully. She smiled and kissed his bare skin.

“Lil?” he muttered.

“Good morning, handsome,” she stretched up and kissed his mouth.

“What time is it? Did I wake you? Do you want–”

“Shhhh,” she kissed him again. “Relax, Linds.”

“But–”

“Relax,” her lips brushed across his and she shifted to lie upon him. “Everything is fine.”

His arms held her tightly, “I like waking like this.”

She kissed him again, “You should go back to sleep though. You were out late.”

“I was n–”

“Yes, you were.”

“But I thought I was quiet and did not wake you,” he frowned.

She kissed his frown, “I did not wake when you got back, Linds. But I know you were late.”

“How?”

She motioned to the flowers with her eyes, “I woke to another beautiful bouquet of flowers. And I bet there’s some pastries over on the table.”

Lindsey sighed, “Lily…”

Her lips showered kisses all over his face, “Go back to sleep, Linds. You need your rest.”

“But… I miss you.”

She kissed his mouth once more, “I’ll be right here. Tonight I’m going to the studio with you.”

“Really?”

“Yes. Go back to sleep,” she instructed, shifting her weight to leave the bed.

Lindsey’s arms tightened around her waist, “No.”

“No?” her brows rose.

“No,” he repeated.

“And what am I to do here?”

“Hmmmm,” Lindsey stared up at her. “I don’t know…”

Lily rolled her eyes and leaned down. Her lips touched his throat, kissing until she felt his pulse against her mouth. He smiled, letting his eyes close to focus on the sparkling sensations her kisses sent shooting down his spine. As she kissed up to his ear, more energy buzzed down his body. Before he could shift his body away from her, his cock swelled and he gasped.

Eyes fluttering open, he glanced at Lily, surprised she did not pull away. He knew she had to feel his growing erection pressing into her hip. Instead, Lily nibbled on his earlobe, her hands gently squeezing his bare shoulders.

“Lindsey,” she breathed in his ear.

“Uh huh,” he nodded.

“I gotta pee,” Lily declared and quickly pulled away, breaking free from his arms.

He groaned as she hurried into the bathroom. Inhaling deeply, he tried to quiet his libido. He could not believe his luck in finding such an angel. She truly was everything good he could imagine in a woman. It made the inconvenience of driving back and forth from the studio less of an issue. In fact, he rather liked being able to surprise her with flowers upon his return. That alone was worth the drive. If there was one thing he would change about their relationship , it would certainly be his struggle with his libido. He was willing to take things at her pace but he was not accustomed to... remaining so chaste. If she was not so sexy, it would not drive him to the edge so easily.

“Linds?” she spoke as she stepped out of the bathroom, twisting her long blond hair up messily.

He bit his bottom lip, seeing her silhouetted against the bathroom light, “Yeah?”

“Do you think there's any way possible we can get to the studio before Mick gets too drunk and wasted?” she asked, heading over to the table to see what pastries Lindsey brought back that morning.

“Uh, sure,” he responded, still trying to quell his desire. “Why?”

Reaching over to the curtain, she pulled it slightly open to let in some of the misty Bay morning light, “Because I need to ask him business questions and need a real answer from him.”

“Yes, of course, Lil.”

“Oh, I'm sorry. Do you want me to close the curtain?”

“No,” he slowly sat up. “I'm just going to...”

Hardly paying any attention to him, Lily opened up the cardboard box on the table and giggled. Thinking her laughter had something to do with his uncomfortable state, Lindsey closed the bathroom door a bit more loudly than normal. Glancing up at the door as she picked up the sprinkle-covered doughnut, Lily frowned slightly before sitting down to enjoy her morning pastry.

Slipping into the chair next to her a few minutes later, Lindsey smiled slightly, “You have sprinkles all over.”

Her eyes dropped down and a flush instantly filled her cheeks, “Oh...”

He quickly kissed her cheek as she brushed the sprinkles onto the floor, “What would you like to do today?”

“Linds, you need to get some more rest. You can't have slept more than two hours,” she pointed out.

“I'm fine,” he responded, struggling to not yawn.

“Lindsey, go back to bed.”

“But – ”

“Go back to bed,” she repeated.

“But, baby, you're awake now. I don't want to – ”

“I'll be fine,” she smiled. “In fact, I think I'll go run some errands and then crawl back in bed with you.”

“I'll drive you,” his body tensed to stand.

Her hand touched his forearm, “Go back to bed, Lindsey.”

“But it would be much faster if you didn't have to wait for a car or whatever,” he pointed out.

“I don't mind taking the bus, Linds. Go back to bed.”

“But – ”

“Go back to bed.”

He sighed, staring at her. Lily remained strong and motioned back to the bed. Nodding, Lindsey got back to his feet, kissed her forehead, and returned to the bed. Following him over, she leaned down and kissed his mouth sweetly before tucking the covers around him. He chuckled as she kissed his eyes, forcing them closed, before heading into the bathroom. Turning on his side, he pulled her pillow close. At least he could pretend she was in bed with him that way.

After transferring buses twice, Lily stepped off the bus in a rather derelict neighborhood. The bus driver hesitated, apparently not thinking that the young blond woman truly meant to get off at that stop. Though she now wore nice, well-fitting clothing, Lily did not feel any more out of place than normal. She did not intend to stay long at all. Merely she would pay off one of her debts and get back on the next available bus. It was simple.

As her previous stop went smoothly enough that one debt was fully paid off, Lily expected nothing less. While she believed Lindsey overpaid her initially, the difficult work she already put in for the band seemed to even out those beliefs. Moreover, Lily was slowly beginning to tick debt after debt off her list – or in the very least make overdue payments. If she kept on top of it – and Lindsey continued to pay her handsomely for her work as well as covering all living costs – she would be free of black clouds threatening her sunny days in a few months.

Provided she could locate the dealer she wanted to pay off that day.

Walking the dirty streets, avoiding eye contact with drug addicts, homeless drunks, and the like, Lily searched for her dealer. She had never purchased drugs from him, nor sold her body to or for him, but her mother had. The sins of the mother became the debts of the daughter.

Turning a corner, her gold eyes flicked up and recognized the dealer's subtle window sign. At least he was home, for what is was worth. She would much rather meet with him in the flesh than leave a sealed envelope for him. Envelopes had a way of disappearing, something she learned a couple of years before. She glanced cautiously around before heading up to the door and stepping into the building.

Three steps in behind the closed door, a hand closed over her elbow, “What is a pretty lady like you doing in a place like this?”

She snapped her arm out of his hand, glared at him, and continued down the hallway silently. Avoiding contact with anyone else, Lily headed up a back staircase and stopped in front of a closed door. She quickly knocked on the door in the prescribed pattern. Barely concealing her relief when the door opened and she was admitted into the room before having to shake off any more unwanted touches, she met the man's dark eyes. He broke eye contact and quickly looked her over, an amused smile twitching at his mouth. He motioned for the others to leave before getting to his feet and moving closer.

Walking around her, his eyes hungrily looked her up and down, “My, my, my. Aren't you a vision, Lily?”

“I'm just here to make a payment, Mac,” she declared softly, keeping her shoulders straight.

“You know,” his fingers reached out and touched her blond hair, “we could pay off your mother's debt in other.”

“I have no desire to give my body to you.”

His hand moved over her shoulder and down her chest, brusquely cupping her breast, “You've gained weight.”

She flinched, “Get your hand off me.”

Mac's hand remained on her breast, squeezing gently, “Your mother had beautiful tits. I loved fucking them.”

Her hand covered his. Concealing her emotions, Lily's fingers curled around his and she pried his hand from her breast. Smirking, Mac pulled his hand free and brusquely grabbed both breasts with both hands. He stepped back quickly as her knee came up in defense, barely missing its mark.

“God, I bet you're a good fuck,” he groaned before retreating to his chair. “One of these days I'm going to have your golden pussy. I bet you'll scream in ecstasy when my big, black cock thrusts in you.”

“In your dreams,” she retorted.

“You don't believe me?” his hands dropped to his belt. “Lemme show you what you're missing, baby.”

Before she could protest – not that he would have listened – Mac undid his pants and whipped out his semi-erect cock. Lily could not help but glance down at his exposure, her breath catching slightly at the sight of it. He chuckled and slowly stroked himself as she looked on, increasing the length and girth of his cock.

Forcing her eyes away from his masturbatory scene, Lily opened her purse and pulled out an envelope sealed with cash inside, “There's seven hundred in here.”

“Come on, Lil. Just suck it. You can keep your money.”

She said nothing.

“Let me fuck your white ass and I'll forgive the entire twenty-four hundred dollar debt.”

“You're disgusting,” she tossed the envelope at him and turned away. “I'll be back next month with another payment.”

As she reached for the door, his hand slammed onto it. Lily gasped as he pinned her against the wooden door. Grateful she wore jeans that day instead of a skirt, she bit her lip as he grinded against her ass, forcing his erection between her legs. Her arms were folded against the door, disabling any chance of hitting back at him. With his weight and strength against the door, she could not even really push away. She struggled to keep her eyes from spilling tears, not wanting him to see any weakness.

“Oh god, Lily,” he moaned, still moving against her. “I need to be in you.”

Before she could meekly tell him to fuck off, his hands went to her hips, circling to the front. Mac pulled her back from the door just enough to reach for the button of her jeans. Seizing the brief respite, Lily wiggled her left arm free and instantly elbowed him hard in the chest. He swore and took a step back, giving her even more space to maneuver. Lily spun around and quickly punched him in the nose, while kneeing him in the groin. As Mac swore profusely and fell to the floor, she pulled open the door and hurried out, leaving the door open for any to see. She did not run from the scene, knowing that would draw more attention, but did not pause for even a second until she was out of the building and around the corner.

The tears began to drip from her long eyelashes as she neared the bus stop. Glancing up the street, she practically jumped in joy to see the large bus already headed her direction. She looked quickly towards the house, relieved no one pursued her yet. Not even glancing at the bus's destination, Lily hurried up the steps, flashed her bus pass, and found an empty seat. As the bus lurched forward, she wiped her tears and glanced out the window. She had survived, again, but she did not know how much longer she could handle it. Maybe... maybe she needed to tell Lindsey.

Only she was too ashamed, much too ashamed.

“Lil? Are you ready yet, sweetheart?” Lindsey called through the locked bathroom door.

Turning the faucet on as high as it would go to drown out her sobs, she hoped he would leave her be to get her crying out so that she could face the band that evening. Hell, she did not even feel as if she could face Lindsey in her current state. She had cried on the bus ride back to the hotel, even escaped into the hotel's small garden to calm herself, crying more. Finally calmed she made it up to the room without shedding any more tears – and then promptly retreated to the bathroom upon seeing Lindsey.

But now... now she needed to face him. Taking a few deep breaths to calm herself, Lily scrubbed her face, hoping to wash away any tear stains. Her sobs had ceased and her breaths became steady and more normal. She turned off the faucet and carefully reapplied her makeup. Leaning forward, she inspected her eyes and sighed. She rooted around in Lindsey's things, located eye drops, and hoped it was enough to chase away the traces of red in her eyes.

Stepping out of the bathroom, she forced a smile. Before he could say anything, she quickly kissed him and turned away to grab her purse. Finding her actions odd, Lindsey remained where he was, trying to read her body language. He knew something was wrong, but he had a feeling she was not going to tell him, at all. Instead, he suppressed a sigh and smiled when she turned back to him.

“All ready?”

Lily nodded, “Do you think we could stop for dinner on the way there?”

“Of course, sweetheart,” he smiled. “What did you have in mind?”

They arrived at the studio an hour later. Though Lily had not spoken her mind, Lindsey could feel she relaxed some. He wanted nothing more than to dig into her thoughts and release whatever troubled her. He hoped, perhaps, time in the studio would release whatever it was. Maybe if he sung to her...

“Lil? You want to come into the studio with me for awhile? I have a new song I'd like you to hear.”

Her golden eyes went to his and she smiled, slightly, “Really?”

“Yes of course,” he smiled. “Would you?”

Nodding, she accepted his hand and trailed behind him down the corridor to an open sound room. Guitar in hand, Lindsey played through the song once before deciding to add the sketchy lyrics. Familiar with the melody, as he first played it in the hotel when they met, Lily smiled as his smooth voice sang away all her nervous fears. She waited for him to set aside his guitar to move from her chair. Approaching the musician, she framed his face with her hands and kissed his mouth gently.

“That was beautiful, Linds.”

“It's for you,” he commented softly, his arms settling around her waist.

“Really?” her eyes brightened.

“Mmmhmmm.”

She kissed him again, “I'm honored.”

“You're beautiful,” he muttered, holding onto her and deepening the kiss.

Allowing him to pull her down into his lap, Lily struggled to fight away her urge to run away from him. Lindsey instantly noticed her body tense and stopped kissing her. Leaning back, he looked over her face and frowned as a tear snaked down her cheek, wiggling free from her closed eyelids. He quickly kissed her cheek, catching the tear.

“Lily, what's wrong?”

She shook her head, refusing to answer.

“Did you go see your mother today?” he asked softly.

“No, but I should have. I haven't been to visit in two weeks,” she muttered.

“I'll go with you next time,” Lindsey quickly offered.

Lily did not respond, keeping her eyes closed.

“Why are you crying, Lil?” he whispered, his thumb reaching up to brush away another escaped tear.

“I...” she pulled out of his lap. “I'm sorry, Linds. I can't... I can't do this right now.”

Before he could ask what she meant, Lily turned and fled the room. She wandered through the studio without a destination in mind, just seeking solace in which to cry all her fears out once more. As she turned to enter the lounge, Lily collided with Chris. As it was early in the evening, the older woman was hardly inebriated and instantly read the younger woman's aura. Her arm slipped around Lily's shoulder, guiding her away from the lounge as she knew Stevie and her gaggle of girls were inside. Instead, Chris led Lily into an empty sound room and eased her into a chair.

Pulling up a chair in front of the sobbing blond, Chris grabbed both of her hands, “What's wrong, girlie?”

Lily shook her head, unable to speak and certainly not wanting to.

“Did Lindsey do something? Did he say unkind words to you?”

She shook her head again, “N-no.”

“Then why are you so upset, sweetie?” her smoky voice calmly asked.

“I... I can't tell you.”

“You can tell me anything, Lily.”

“Lindsey can't know.”

Chris paused for a moment, “I will never share your secrets with anyone else, Lil.”

Her tear-rimmed eyes rose and met Chris's, “If Lindsey finds out, he'll... he'll...”

She squeezed her hands, “He won't. You can tell me.”

“Chris... my life hasn't been... good before I met Lindsey.”

“We've all had rough patches, Lil.”

“N-not like that.”

The songstress remained silent.

“I... Today I went to go pay down some of my debts and...”

Chris squeezed her hands gently again.

“...and I was almost raped.”

The older woman's eyes widened slightly. She released Lily's hands and paced over to a side table by the piano. Without a thought, she filled two glasses with gin and returned to the chair, holding out one of the glasses to Lily. The young woman stared at the glass for a long moment before accepting it. Chris took a drink of her own before sitting back down. Her eyes widened as she watched the girl who never drank, nearly gulp at the glass.

“Uh uh,” Chris reached out and pulled the glass away from Lily's mouth. “I think that's enough, Lil.”

She exhaled shakily as she released the half-empty glass back to Chris, “If Lindsey found out... he'd... he'd...”

“And rightfully so,” the older woman declared. “You need to tell him, Lil.”

“I c-can't.”

“Lily...”

“I c-can't, Chris. He wouldn't w-want me any more.”

“That's not true at all. Lindsey is not going to discard you for something like that. That man is in love with you. He's not letting you go for anything,” Chris declared, setting both of the glasses down on the floor next to them. “You need to tell him.”

“I c-can't.”

“Why not, chickadee?”

“B-because,” her eyes dropped to her fingers playing with the hem of her shirt, “it's not the f-first t-time.”
