Title: Alternate Realities: Chapter Twenty-six, Changes
Rating: R [language, nudity, sexual innuendo]

Summary: Kylia is still doubting Adam's affection.  The couple's vacation ends and they return to LA, which is different than how they left it.

Waking next to Adam in the middle of the day, her body sticky from sexing him all night, Kylia carefully rolled away from him.  She silently gathered clothing and headed into the bathroom.  Locking the door to keep Adam from interrupting her shower, she set her clothes on the counter and stared at her naked reflection in the mirror.  Her hands lifted her large breasts, trying to figure out why Adam kissed and rubbed them so much.  No one had ever given her that kind of attention before.  In fact, no one had ever made her feel so… special before.

Her hands left her breasts and she turned away from her reflection to turn the shower on.  Soon after stepping into the soft, hot water, tears swirled down the drain as well.  She did not allow herself to cry for long, but instead focused on washing her body and hair.  Paying extra attention to her shaving, she dropped the razor when a knock sounded at the door.  Swearing softly, she picked it back up and finished, ignoring Adam.

Once showered, she quickly dried and dressed.  Still ignoring the door, Kylia brushed her teeth.  Her brown eyes once more went to the mirror, looking over her reflection.  She could not see what he saw in her, not at all.  Even with all of his kisses and assurances that she was beautiful, Kylia could not believe it.  Once back in LA, he would leave her for some lingerie model or something.

With a sigh, she finally turned, unlocked the door, and opened it.  Adam quickly jumped to his feet and approached her.  His lips brushed hers before he ducked into the bathroom.  As he did not close the door, she could hear precisely what he was doing.  The very thought he was comfortable enough to pee in front of her made her blush.

“Ky?” he stepped out of the bathroom. “Are you okay?”

Her eyes met his, “Yeah, sure.  When are you leaving me?”

His smile instantly disappeared.  Saying nothing, he headed over to the dresser and pulled out a pair of boxers.  Once pulled into place, he returned to Kylia’s side.  He remained silent, circled his arms around her, and kissed her frown gently.

“I am not leaving you,” he stated softly.

“You will once we go back to LA,” she retorted.

Adam scoffed, “Not going to happen at all.”

“Yes, it will.”

His eyes searched hers briefly, “It will not.  I’m completely and utterly enamored with you.  I am not leaving you.  Not when we get back to LA.  Not ever.”

“But there are so many prettier gir—”

His lips touched hers, “There is no one prettier than you.”

“But, Adam—”

“Ky, we made love repeatedly for something like forty-eight hours.  You cannot really believe that I want anyone else.”

“If given the chance you would—”

“Not a chance,” he interrupted.

“But—”

“Not a chance,” Adam repeated. “Ky, relax.  I am not going to leave you.  Relax.”

She sighed.

“Come on.  Show me that pretty smile.”

Kylia forced a smile.

“Better,” he kissed her softly. “I’m going to get dressed and then we’re going to do something fun.”

“But—”

“No protests,” his lips brushed hers once more. “It’ll only take me a few minutes to get ready…”

After two days of exploring the island, followed by nights of passionate lovemaking, Adam finally felt like Kylia was relaxing.  She was still shy and withdrawn and certainly did not like him calling attention to her beauty.  But he still thought she was coming around and that made him happy.

Rolling over, his hand snaked over her stomach and his lips touched her bare shoulder.  She stirred slightly, but did not fully wake.  With a devious smile, his fingers slowly began to caress lower.  Before his fingers were able to touch her soft mound, the phone rang.

Not wanting to wake Kylia up if he could help it, at least not that way, Adam quickly rolled over and snatched up the phone, “Hello?”

Stirring at the sound of his voice, Kylia’s eyes fluttered open.  Her gaze focused on his back, listening to his side of the conversation, even though he was attempting to whisper.  Hearing his words, a frown developed on her face.  And that was precisely what he saw after hanging up the phone and rolling over.

He reached over and touched her cheek, “Good morning, beautiful.”

“When do you leave?”

“We,” he corrected before kissing her quickly. “We are leaving this afternoon.”

“What time?” she asked, sitting up.

Watching the sheets fall away from her body, he struggled to not groan, “Plane leaves at four.”

Kylia glanced at the clocked, “That’s in just less than two hours, Adam.”

“Perfect,” he pulled her close. “Gives me plenty of time to—”

“No,” she evaded his grasp. “We need to pack and head to the airport.”

“But—”

Kylia rolled out of the bed, “We can’t spare the time.”

“Can we fool around on the plane?” he asked, shifting out of bed behind her.

Her eyes flicked to his, “Seriously?”

“Of course, baby,” Adam replied, watching her get dressed. “You should wear a dress.”

“How does that even work?”

He smirked, “There’s lots of ways we can do it.  In the bathroom, under a blanket at our seats…”

Kylia stared at him as she tied the straps of her dress around her neck, “Really…?”

Adam stood up and approached her, “Shall we give it a try?”

A soft flush filled her cheeks, “Maybe.”

Grinning he kissed her quickly, “Then I’ll pack right away.”

Sitting in the airport an hour later, Adam ignored the glances of other passengers and cuddled Kylia.  She attempted to push his hands away at first, but soon gave into his little kisses.  Her eyes closed and a small smile curved her lips.  She did not even protest when his hand discreetly cupped her breast.  It was not until she heard the click of a camera.

Her back straightened and she leaned away from him.  Adam’s eyes went to hers, trying figure out why she suddenly went cold.  Shaking her head, she shifted even further from him.  Then he heard it too and understood everything.  And realized he did not care who saw them kissing, who saw them together.  In fact, the more he thought about it, the more he wanted to show her off.

“When we get back to LA, I’m going to take you everywhere,” he muttered softly and leaned over to steal a kiss.

“Adam,” she muttered, pushing him away slightly, “you can’t—”

“The world needs to see how beautiful you are.”

Her eyes darkened slightly, “But the school—”

“Oh good news,” he flashed her a smile, “besides the fact I need to get back to work on the album before the label kills me, but all the charges against you have been dropped.  And that fucker who hurt you is behind bars.”

“What?!”

He nodded, grinning, “The district is holding a press conference announcing it… well I guess it is probably all over and done by now.”

“Are you kidding me?”

“Nope.  When we get back home, there is nothing for you to be worried about,” he proclaimed.

“But once people think you’re a child molester, you’re always a—”

“No, baby, that’s not how it’s going to be.  You’ll see.”

She glanced away briefly, “I guess…”

Adam’s fingers went to her chin, turning her face back to his so he could steal another kiss, “Have I let you down ever yet?”

“…no…”

“Trust me, Ky,” he kissed her again. “I will not let you down.”

“I know…”

Stepping off the plane at LAX, Adam knew without a doubt they would be photographed.  But he did not directly tell Kylia that.  Instead, he kissed her sweetly and encouraged her to stop at the restroom to make sure there were no hints as to what they did on the plane — twice.  She instantly flushed and headed into the bathroom.  When she returned to his side, Adam knew she would be less angry about the paparazzi photos about to be snapped.

“Hello, gorgeous,” he kissed her cheek softly. “We’ll head directly to my mom’s house so you can see Aristotle, then we’ll figure out where to go for dinner.”

“Can’t we just stay in?” she asked, covering her mouth as she yawned. “I haven’t really had the chance to sleep lately.”

Adam smirked, “Sure, we can stay in.”

“I know you have to go back to recording tomorrow,” she commented, heading through the airport with him, “but do you think your mom will help take my things back to my apartment?”

He stopped suddenly, turning to face her, “You’re going back to your apartment?”

“Um, well, yeah,” she nodded cautiously. “Now that everything is over, I don’t see why not.”

His eyes searched hers, “While I can understand why you might want to do that, won’t it bring back all those bad memories?”

“It might.  But it might not.”

He rubbed the back of his neck, “I just thought we finally got somewhere with these two and a half weeks in Hawaii.”

“We did!  We definitely did.  But I don’t know if it’s in our best interest for me to keep living with your mother.”

“Okay… okay.  I can appreciate that, but…”

She stared at him for a moment, “Is there something you aren’t telling me, Adam?”

He glanced around, ever aware they were likely being photographed in that very moment, “We can talk about it in the car.”

“No, tell me now.”

He sighed, “Because of all the crazy publicity you… lost your apartment.”

“What!?” she exclaimed.

“Look, baby, my mom arranged to clear out your apartment and she said you can stay with her as long as you need to.”

She turned away from him, angrily walking away.  Worry on his face, Adam trotted after her.  He reached for her hand, but she quickly evaded his grasp.  She did not speak another word as they continued through the airport, nor even once they were settled in the back of the town car.  Adam had no idea how to react to her silence treatment.  He understood what he told her was quite the shock, but he had not thought she would take it so poorly.  Had all their time together blinded him?  Could he no longer read her?  But, no, he should be better equipped to read her body language now, considering he could now tell how aroused she was by the light in her eyes.  This silence treatment was killing him.

“Baby,” he shifted closer to her in the back of the car.

Keeping her arms folded across her chest, Kylia kept her gaze focused out the window.  His fingers touched her knee, but she quickly turned her back to him, moving her knee out of his grasp.  Sighing, he settled back on his side of the car.  The drive from the airport to his mother’s house seemed to last forever.

The moment the car parked in his mother’s driveway, Kylia unbuckled her seatbelt and bolted out, not waiting for either the driver or Adam to open her door.  She hurried directly into the house, looking for Adam’s mother.  She needed confirmation of his words.  Had she really lost her apartment through no fault of her own?  Would she even be able to get another apartment with that kind of a mark on her renting history?

“Patsy?” she called softly.

Her boyfriend’s mother stepped out of the kitchen, a towel in her hands, “Welcome home, Kylia.  I bet you’re hungry.”

She ignored the statement, “Did I really lose my apartment?”

Patsy blinked, glancing beyond Kylia to see Adam enter the house with luggage, “You were evicted, yes.  But you are more than welcome to stay here… indefinitely.  I rather do enjoy having the company.  And I do think Aristotle and I have become quite good friends.”

“I was evicted?” she repeated, apparently still unable to believe it.

The older woman nodded, stepped forward, and gently touched Kylia’s arm, “I’m sorry, dear.”

Her shoulders slumped.  Saying nothing, she grabbed her luggage from Adam and headed to the guest room — her room now, she supposed.  Adam moved to follow her, but his mother clicked her tongue, rooting him where he was.  Kylia’s large cat jumped off the sofa and followed his mistress, in part to harass her for leaving him for so long, but also to console her.

Adam looked to his mother, “What do I do?  How am I in trouble for this?”

“Come help in the kitchen,” she motioned behind her. “And we can talk about this.”

“How is this my fault?  She didn’t talk to me the entire way home from the airport,” he trailed after her.

“It’s not, Adam.  And she’ll see it soon too,” Patsy declared.

“Everything was going so well in Hawaii too,” he groaned. “It was perfect.  She relaxed and opened up to me.  She has the most amazing smile.”

She glanced at her son and smiled, “You’re in love.”

“No shit.  You knew that before we left,” he retorted.

“Adam,” she warned.

“Sorry,” he leaned against the counter. “But yes, I love her.  I know it’s like quick or something, but I do.  I’ve only known this girl for like two months but… I really do love her.  What am I going to do to fix this?”

“Nothing.  You’re going to do nothing.”

“What?  Why?”

“That girl has been through a lot in the past few weeks, Adam.  Let her relax and figure out how to stand on her own two feet again.  Don’t you worry though. She’ll see that her world revolves around you soon,” she winked. “Her heart is yours.”
