Waking with a start, Jane looked wildly about. A groan passed her lips. She wasn’t supposed to be there. She was supposed to be in her bed, in her apartment, snuggling with her kitties, not... not with Adam. How the hell had she ended up asleep in his bed? She needed to be at school in... her eyes went to the clock, little over an hour. There was no way she was going to make it there in time. And she couldn’t call in sick. Or could she? Would it not seem that bad if she called in after what happened the day before with Jayden? Perhaps that was expected? Then she had to go. She couldn’t let his actions determine her life. She...

Poking Adam, she muttered, “Adam, I have to be to work in an hour.”

He mumbled turning over, his back to hers. Jane poked him again, repeating her words. He still didn’t stir. Deciding she would apparently have to be dramatic, she threw back the covers and quickly climbed on him, her legs straddling his hip. Leaning down, she blew softly into his ear, making his lips twitch into a smile. Stopping that she kissed his ear quickly before sitting back up.

“Adam, I have to be to work in an hour.”

“No, you don’t,” he finally responded, trying to turn onto his back.

Her legs parted more to allow his movement, “Yes, I do. I have to go enrich minds, remember?”

His hands settled easily on her thighs, a thought crossing his mind about how sexy she was wearing his tee shirt and nothing else, especially since it was pulled tautly across her breasts, “Considering what happened yesterday, I don’t think it’s all that unfathomable for you to not go to work today.”

“You just want me to stay here all day with you,” she proclaimed, her hands dropping to cover his.

“The thought had crossed my mind,” he responded, thumbs hooking up to touch her hands.

“Don’t you have an album to record?” Jane countered.

“Gotta write some more songs first,” Adam replied.

“Oh?”

“Kinda need a new muse though,” he commented.

“How come?”

Adam shrugged, “I’m done with the breakup songs. Time for something else. That’s vented; I’m done with it.”

“Was it a bad breakup?” she asked softly.

His eyes darkened slightly, “Similiar to yours, I would guess. Cept I found her fucking him in my bed and apparently they had been for some time.”

“I’m sorry, Adam,” she whispered.

Sitting up, his hands left her hips to frame her face, “It wasn’t your fault, Kylia. I know that. You are so much more... real than she could ever be. You don’t even deserve to be compared ever.”

“But I’m still a woman so that would imply that—”

His lips touched hers, “You are very much a woman. She wasn’t even deserving to be a girl. You have no need to apologize for her actions, no more than I have the need to apologize for Jayden’s. We’re both adults and I think we both understand that the person we’re with right now is nothing like the one who fucked us over. I’m over her. And I hope to god you get over Jayden soon because I—”

Before he could finish his declaration, Jane’s mouth covered his. Her lips melted into his, her body pressing against his. Slowly Adam laid back down, his arms circling around her back and pulling her down with him. For a long moment he held her there, his tongue softly plying hers. Jane slowly retracted from the kiss, her glittering eyes meeting his.

“I still need to go to work. I will not let him stop me from that,” she declared.

“Fine. But I’m picking you up afterwards,” Adam stated.

She arched an eyebrow, “Are you now?”

His hands slipped down to her panty-clad ass, “Absolutely. We have to make up for yesterday.”

Shifting Adam’s button-down shirt once more, still unconvinced that it looked all right, Jane headed into the elementary school. Her eyes glanced around, a plastic smile touching her features as children greeted her. It seemed like a normal day, despite the fact she was wearing a men’s shirt over black slacks from the day before. But that all crashed to an end as soon as she stepped into the building. Fellow teachers looked at her with emotions she couldn’t quite label, not quite pity, but something akin to it.

As per normal she headed to the office first, checking her box before heading down to her classroom. She wasn’t two steps into the office before it went completely silent, everyone looking at her. She held her head high and continued to the mailroom, trying to not let whatever was going on get to her. All she had to do was make it to her classroom, then everything would be all right. She was certain of it.

“Miss Monroe, can I see you in my office please?” the principal’s voice asked from behind her, practically making her jump.

Turning she nodded and followed him into the office. Her nerves that had been slowly building quickly erupted when he closed the door behind her. She knew something not very good was about to happen. Absolutely

“Have a seat please,” he instructed, motioning to the cheap black and silver plastic chair in front of his desk.

Nodding, she slipped into the chair, nervously pulling at the shirt, which only caused it to strain against her breasts.

The principal slipped into his plaid, canvas covered chair, folding his hands on the desk, “You’ve been with us for quite awhile and I’ve always marvelled at how a rich girl such as yourself pours herself into teaching kids who probably couldn’t ever afford the shoes she wears in their lifetime. You truly seem to love what you do and it shows in your students’ performance. Not a single one of your first graders has ever failed, not even when they moved onto other teachers. That is something rather remarkable, Miss Monroe.”

“Thank you, sir.”

“However,” he sighed, “yesterday’s outburst is not something I can ignore. Therefore I am placing you on administrative leave with pay effective immediately. Your student teacher will take over your class, supported by Miss Mitchell, the substitute you always use.”

“You’re firing me because Jayden was fucking his student teacher in his classroom?” she spouted.

He looked at her evenly, “Miss Monroe, I understand that it is hard to see a former flame in the same work place as you day after day, but that is not cause to slander a fellow teacher.”

Her eyes narrowed, “A former flame? We were still together until I found his dick in his student. Don’t you dare tell me that he convinced you that didn’t even happen.”

“Miss Monroe, there is no need to get upset. This is for your own good. You need some time away from—”

“Fuck you,” she got to her feet. “Fuck you. I will not be treated like this just because Jayden is some fucking golden boy. You can take your administrative leave and shove it up your ass. I quit. Have fun supporting highly immoral teachers. Hell for all I know, he’s been molesting his third graders too. Fuck you.”

Without another glance at the principal, Jane picked up her messenger bag and stomped out of the office. She headed over to the secretary’s desk, opened up her bag, and dumped all of her school things on the woman’s desk. Grabbing her purse out of the mess, she stalked out of the administrative office, digging her cell phone out of the smaller bag. Her thumb quickly danced over Adam’s cell phone number.

“Hello?”

“Adam, can you come get me right now?”

“Uh, yeah sure. I’m just a few blocks away. Why?”

“I’ll tell you when you get here.”

Sitting across the table from Jane, Adam tried his hardest to keep his cool. He wanted nothing more than to storm down to her school — her former school — beat the shit out of her stupid principal and feed him Jayden’s balls. Clearly he couldn’t do that, but he wanted to nonetheless. If that was how they treated reports of impropriety on school grounds, it was no wonder that the school was so rundown. Anyone who was actually worth anything, such as Jane, was chased out. He knew she was a great teacher, without even seeing her in action. She just had that light in her that clearly emanated outwards to her students. But now it had short-circuited, all because some fucker wiggled his way into her pants while playing in others. The moment she explained the principal’s actions, while tears streamed down her cheeks, he wondered if Jayden had been fucking him too. For some reason, even though he had only seen the man from a distance, Adam was pretty certain it wouldn’t be that out of the question.

Reaching across the table, his hand covered hers, squeezing it lightly. For the past two hours they had sat in a quiet corner in their little coffee shop in Malibu. Jane kept her back to the cafe, angry tears snaking down her cheeks in spurts. He could understand that she felt like she had nothing left, that her life had been suddenly turned upside down. And so he sat there, listening to her go over everything, from her initial relationship with Jayden, even the part where she was just crushing on him, believing a ‘fat wallflower’ such as her self would never be worthy of his attention, to the way the principal looked down his nose at her as he handed down his verdict. While a good part of it was an eye-opener to Adam, letting him see into how her mind worked, surprising him how very different she was from all the women he had been with before, it was just as much frustrating to him. No one deserved that treatment, least of all a woman as special as Jane.

“He insulted the fact that I grew up in Beverly Hills and chose to teach in a school where my salary is less than the interest on my trust fund,” she stated.

His eyes snapped to hers. She was wealthy? That explained a lot, an awful lot. It explained why she didn’t seem all that impressed when he first took her into his house, how she didn’t seem to turn her nose up at any food or drink he offered when they ate together, how the clothes she wore the evening before had been afforded on a teacher’s salary.

And to be honest, it tickled him even more. Her lackadascial feelings towards wealth and all that accompanied it, spoke well for his behalf. He wouldn’t have to worry about making her feel uncomfortable with all of his, at least he thought so. And to top that off she had chosen the road less traveled, had chosen to teach underprivileged students when she probably could be teaching anywhere else or not at all. It clearly indicated she had a very big heart and a pure soul. Hell, he had never dated any woman with even half of what Jane did.

“Adam? Did I say something wrong?” she uttered, bringing his attention back to her presently.

“No no,” his hand squeezed hers gently. “You want to get out of here?”

“Uh, okay. Why?” Jane responded.

“Because I have this overwhelming desire to kiss you right now and here is not the right place.”
