For awhile they chatted amiably, each relaxing more and more the longer they were together. Adam couldn't help but realize while he did want to kiss her, to hold her, he didn't want to bed her. Well not right away at least. It was a revelation to him, not wanting immediate gratification sexually. Hadn't so many of his relationships begun with sex and then developed into more? But he didn't feel the urge for that right now at all. He enjoyed her company, her innocent company, and that said a lot.

She had finished her second cup of coffee and currently had escaped to the restroom. Adam was quickly searching for some way to keep her from leaving the cafe. Or if leaving was inevitable, perhaps talking her into leaving with him. Maybe he could talk her into a brief lunch?

He didn't have to turn in his chair to know she was returning to the table as he could feel her presence. However the smile that lit his face at that revelation quickly disappeared when she didn't sit back down. She was leaving. He could tell just from the fact she wouldn't sit back down.

Slowly he got to his feet, thoughts still scrambling to find reason for her to stay, "Feel like catching a movie?"

Her eyes held his briefly as she weighed her options, "I've enjoyed our morning together, Adam, but—"

"Please," he could almost hear the plea in his voice.

"I can't. I've got homework to grade and a week's worth of lessons to plan," she quickly stated.

"Anything I can do to help?"

Jane flashed him a sweet smile, "Unlikely. But thanks for the offer. Maybe we can meet up later this week?"

Adam wasn't about to let that opportunity sneak by him at all, "Absolutely. When?"

"I'll give you my number and you can call me later," she offered, reaching into her purse.

Score, Adam thought, accepting the slip of paper a moment later, "Of course."

"This was nice, Adam. Thanks," she smiled at him again.

He probably should have replied something cute, romantic, suave. Instead he found himself staring into her eyes, completely wordless. She held his gaze for a moment before flushing that beautiful blush once more and turning away. He was pretty sure she said something else, but he was still unable to reply. It wasn't until he noticed she was walking away that his thoughts jumped into action. He lept forward, escorting her to the door, thanking her for the lovely time. Watching her pass through the door he held open sent an odd mix of feelings through his body, mostly regret at her leaving his company. But he was confident he would see her again. And again. And again.

"Oh bloody hell," Jane shoved her lesson planner aside. "He's just a boy."

Getting to her feet she paced around the living room, thinking that maybe the small bit of activity would help push Adam's face, voice, everything out of her thoughts. However she found herself standing in front of her cd collection, her eyes instantly finding the Maroon 5 disc in the stack. Her fingers itched to reach for it, to shove it into the cd player. It wasn't like she didn't know the songs or anything, because she did, so much so she sometimes still sung them in the shower. But now it was different. Because sheknew the voice.

"Dammit, girl," she stalked away from the cd tower. "He's just a boy. And a rock star at that. He was probably just charming you because of some bet his bandmates had. He doesn't really like you. Who would?"

As if on cue, the phone rang. Jumping on that, Jane hurried to the phone but stopped a moment before reaching for it. What if it was Adam already? She had actually given him her real number. How stupid was that? But then again she wanted to talk to him again, really wanted to. So if he was calling already, not even three hours later, it wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

Picking it up just before it went to voicemail, Jane coughed before managing a hello?

"Hey, babe, wanna have dinner tonight?" Jayden asked.

Relaxing some, she smiled, "Sure. What time?"

Drumming his fingers on the countertop, Adam stared at his cell phone. He had fought the urge to call her all day Sunday. But now it was Monday and he was at the 'studio' with the band. They had played for awhile, even laying down the basics to a new track. But the whole time he had been thinking of her, of how lucky he was to be single and then meet her. The stars seemed to be looking out for him now.

In all honesty he was a bit worried she was a rebound girl. She was such the opposite of his previous girlfriend. And it wasn't just physically. Sure, she had more curves than... well anyone he had seriously dated. And normally that wouldn't wrap him around her finger. But he needed her curves, to touch her. But the biggest thing was how unsure of herself she was at first. She certainly had opened up to him, like a rare flower, in the few hours they were together, rarely blushing or averting her eyes at the end of the coffee date. He was intrigued by everything his down-to-earth goddess was. And she was definitely that, a goddess, in every sense of the word.

A hand slapped his shoulder, making his eyes snap to the owner of such, "Hey, Jess."

"Okay, now I know there's a woman. So tell me about her."

"What makes you think—"

"The fact that you've been staring at your phone like it's the meaning of life."

Adam chuckled, "Maybe it is."

"Then I'll stand here and stare at it with you," he folded his arms over his chest.

"Uh, no. That's weird."

"Call her already."

Adam looked at his bandmate, "But it's too soon. We just met for coffee on Sunday."

Jesse hit him again, "If you can't stop thinking about her, call her ass. I bet if she has this effect on you, she's waiting for your call."

Glancing at his watch, he shook his head, "She'll still be at school."

The keyboardist's eyes widened, "You're dating a high schooler? What the fuck, man?"

"No no no," Adam shook his head again. "She's a schoolteacher."

Jesse grinned, "Great. That's the kind of woman you need. So hurry up and call her. Leave her the best voicemail ever so she's on cloud nine when she hears it."

His eyes brightened, "Yeah. That's a good idea. A very good idea. Thanks, Jess."
